Snowtrekker Canvas Tents
With design refinements that add ease of set-up and overall tent perfection, the new Snowtrekker canvas tents continue to maintain their status as the flagship of winter camping tents.
When Snowtrekker canvas tents were designed 15 years ago, every one of their features were carefully planned and tested to withstand the rigorous demands of the winter elements. Their modified wedge design combat wind and snowload from every direction and their smaller overall interior volume increase heating efficiency while maintaining maximum floor print area.
Functional living space is achieved with an interior frame that matches the slope of the walls and supports the entire ridgeline of the tent. Furthermore, this design makes the tent freestanding and easy to set up, even solo. Add to this the next generation of guy-lines and Snowtrekker tents set up remarkably tight.
An asymmetrical oval door is structurally integrated into the tent and allows the entryway to be heightened providing easier entrance/exit. Additionally, the door flap closes with a single vertical zipper.
Of course, we’ve kept the time-proven features including 7.5 ounce fire-retardant canvas, reinforced stress points, and 12” wide synthetic snow flaps.

Tent Sizes
Over the years, we have come to realize that when faced with the decision of more space or less weight, our customers opt for the additional space. With this in mind, we have increased the footprint, the length of the ridgeline, and the ridge height on all of the tents in our product line. Our tent frames have been designed to produce a convex stressed arch into the ridgeline. This allows us the ability to increase the ridgeline length while still relying on our lightweight Easton Aluminum tent poles to span the distance and hold the additional weight of the canvas.
Tent Fabric - all models
Our custom woven 7.5 oz cotton duck is marine grade, preshrunk and treated for water repellency and mildew resistance with Sunforger, the industry benchmark for canvas treatments. Our fabric is also treated with flame retardancy to CPAI-84 standards.
We at Snowtrekker will never claim our tents to be water-proof; in fact, a water-proof fabric would be the worst choice for winter tent designs. Our water repellant cotton sheds water on the outside while allowing water vapor to pass through preventing condensation on the inside. Waterproof? No. Dry? Yes! Ah, the beauty of natural fabrics!
Canvas footnote: current Snowtrekker canvas tent owners may wonder why we have gained weight. It’s true, this year’s fabric is 7.5 oz canvas [treated to the same specifications as always] up from 6.5 oz canvas. Rest assured that this change is not in response to any performance issues. The primary reason for this change was fabric sourcing and availability. Despite this change, you will notice that the overall tent weights remain light and nomadic.

Tent Doors
Why did it take us so long to think of this? After 15 years of ducking through short oval doors, we decided to go back to the
drawing board. This year Snowtrekker tents will be outfitted with our newly designed asymmetrical oval door. This shape, narrower at the top,
allows us to push our door height further into the peak of the tent. A single, center-line zipper closes the door flaps over the opening. Is has never been
easier to come in from the cold. “Hey, close the door, you’re letting the cold in!”
Tent Guy-lines
Two seasons worth of trials and nothing but positive reviews was all we needed to convince ourselves to incorporate a new guy-out
system into all of our tents. The guy-out design consists of a set of horizontal poles (same Easton aluminum poles as our frame
package): 1 for each side and 1 for the back, inserted into integrated sleeves running along the side and back walls. With 2 or 3 guy-lines attached to each
horizontal pole, the entire side and back walls are pulled extremely taunt, providing maximum interior volume. Additionally, this eases set-up because all
guy-lines on a common side can be anchored to a single point. Structurally, this system distributes the stress of the guy-outs over a very large surface area,
reducing potential for seam tears when exposed to harsh winter winds. We have found this system to be a seamless blend of functionality and structural integrity.
Tent Frames
When it came time to choose a frame that was strong, lightweight, easy to assemble, and packable, we went with Easton Aluminum. Easton
Aluminum is highly regarded in the backpacking tent industry, an industry that more than any demands the perfect union of weight savings and durability. Custom
made for Snowtrekker Tents, Easton provides us with collapsible 3/4 inch aluminum poles that assemble in seconds with the familiar internal bungee system. Our
frames collapse to 30” lengths for easy packability.
