Black River Sleds

Chris has been building dogsleds since he acquired his first 6 dogs in 1991 and has been selling sleds since 1995. Black River Sleds have been used all over North America. His dogsleds have gotten mushers through Alaska’s Iditarod, Churchill’s Hudson Bay Quest, France’s La Grande Odyssee, Minnesota’s John Beargrease, and Michigan’s UP 200.

Chris's snowshoeing toboggans have slid loads over 500 miles through Manitoba’s Lake Winnipeg country, crossed countless lakes and portages of the Minnesota Boundary Waters Canoe Area, and assisted clients of Garret and Alexandra Conover as they traversed the wilds of Maine and Labrador. His aim is not to build the most sleds but to build durable, affordable sleds that meet the demands of musher and snow walker.
